The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) is one of the premier Engineering Colleges in India, founded even before the Country got its Independence in 1946 by 3 retired Engineers - S. Ramaswamy, D.V Narsimha Rao and T. Rama Rao.
It was the First private Engineering College in Mysore and the second in the State.
The College is located in Mysore, India. It is about 100 miles south west of Bangalore, the capital city of the state, Karnataka.
The College was initially affiliated to The University of Mysore - a very prestigious university of India (till 2001) and is currently affiliated to the Visveshwaraiah Technological University.

		862 Reads The Electronic and Communication (E&C) branch students of National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysore (1975 batch) at their 10th annual meet held on November 21st, felicitated M. B. Ashwin, 7th Semester student, for his academic excellence with a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-. Dr. M. S. Prof. Venugopal is presently as a Professor at SJCE, Mysore. He is the first academician from Karnataka to receive this award.
